We had our Thursday Evening Critique at Kelly's Cafe again and they are so nice. They make room for us at three beautiful and comfortable couches and then chairs for the paintings to be viewed from. We thank them very much for all they do. If you don't come for the critique you should check them out some time for the food. They serve crepes that are really good and you just don't find them often around town.

We had a lovely evening on a cold and rainy night. Our meeting was after our horrible historical storm Sandy and it was a nice reprieve. Some people were not there and we hope that everything is fine with them and family. We hope that all is fine with all our readers and their families.

Thursday Evening Critique Group Meeting

Acrylic "abscape". Started out as an abstract.

 Thursday night's critique group was very interesting and fun. We had a very good time and had lots to contribute to each others art work. People brought in one or two pieces and one person was new and didn't bring anything in. I bring this up because this is perfectly fine. We still all had lots to say and it's a good way to get use to the group and see what it is all about.
We are a friendly and non threatening group. The point of our two groups ( Monday and Thursday) is to say what each person thinks is good about the art and to contribute what that individual thinks might be constructive information that could improve that piece. It's then up to the artist to use that information or not. The most important part of the information is to not take it personally or to be defensive about it. It is a good learning experience both to hear this and to examine others work and be able to talk about art in this way.

Critique Group Thurs Night

 Wonderful critique group meeting at our regular meeting place. Kelly's Cafe is a nice comfortable and warm feeling for talking about our art. We can have a little something to eat or drink too if we like.

 Viewing the art first before contributing comments helps to organize our thoughts.

 Matting helps a lot to view a painting to talk about it even though it may or may not be finished yet.
