Quilting with Beverly J. Morris
This evening's program will begin by briefly acknowledging the winners of our recent Valentine Card contest. You may recall that this was postponed from last month's meeting due to severe weather.
Following presentation and recognition of the Valentine card contest winners, we will have the opportunity of hearing Beverly J. Morris talk about her passion for quilting.
Sewing has been an important part of Bev's life ever since she was old enough to hold a needle. She taught herself to sew clothing and crochet, and won youth awards at local competitions.
Bev went on to study Fashion Design, but she married and raised two children. During this time, she pursued a successful stained glass business, MorriStudioS. Her work was recongnized nationally, when one of her pieces was selected to adorn the White House Christmas Tree during the Clinton administration.
Quilting became a part of Bev's life after taking a basic Sampler class. Her love of fabric, colors and design clicked. She applied many of the techniques learned from cutting and designing stained glass to fabric. Today, Bev can be found at Abigayle's Quiltery in Olmsted Falls, Ohio where she teaches and speaks to avid groups of quilters. She and her business partner, Nancy, have co-written two books, appeared on many television shows, have their own pattern company, design the Abigayle's web site, and run a successful, art-filled retail business for the past 11 years.
Join us in the council chamber of Brunswick City Hall and meet Beverly, hear her speak about her artistic journey, and view some of her creations on Wednesday evening, March 2, 2011, at 7:30 PM. We look forward to seeing you!
